According to a new study of analyzied survey results, from National Media Inc., most sports fans lean a little bit toward the Republican side of the political aisle. By the chart below though, most fans are pretty moderate. The data helps TV, radio stations, and newspapers set ad rates.

After asking almost 220,000 sports fans a series of question, Scarborough USA than gave the information to National Media for the analysis where they made this really cool looking chart with circles and primary colors on it:

What does this brief channeling of the Daily Show/Colbert Report mean? Basically, all this shows is that the company that released the information wants to say that sports fans lean a little bit to the right (even though we can see with our own eyes that everyone falls in the middle third of the graph).

If anything this shows us that fan support is broken up almost as much by geography as by politcal affiliation.

Since fans of golf, NASCAR, and college football tend to be from the southeast it isn’t too much of a surprise that they are more right wing oriented. Baseball and Basketball tend to be northern and west coast supported sports therefore the fans of those sports are a little more left winged.

“That’s stupid” he says.  Well apparently one fan was in the restroom or the beer line during his announcement, because someone proceeded to hit a Pitt assistant coach in the face with a penny.  Watch this video and listen to how angry the announcer gets:

That Fan expects a lot out of fans and wants them to be as crazy and rabid as possible, but throwing things on the court is going too far.  Someone could have gotten hurt, and that is not what being a sports fan is all about.  To take it a step further, a technical foul was called against West Virginia which resulted in free throws being shot.  Think about it, if your team is in a close game that could be decided by a point or two, you could be costing your team the game.

Hmmm…come to think about it, does that mean I can go to an away game and try and get the fans of the team we are playing in trouble by throwing something onto the court?
