Best ESPN College GameDay Signs from Syracuse (2/27/10)

February 28, 2010

College GameDay was held at Syracuse yesterday for the big-time showdown between The Cuse and Villanova.  I was hoping that a monster crowd would show up and surpass Kentucky’s GameDay record set a couple weeks ago, but it didn’t happen.  There was still a solid crowd in attendance though.  If you were at GameDay and you have pictures of signs we don’t have here, let us know so we can post them!

Digger went with a yellow tie/highlighter combination this week for those of you that pay attention to that odd sort of thing. The Syracuse student who shot the half-court shot for a scholarship missed pretty badly.  That makes fifteen straight shows with a miss, and Duke and North Carolina remain the only schools to ever have someone make the shot.  On to the signs!

We get started with one of our favorite sign themes, co-eds begging parents for money for some random occurrence that they don’t want to spend money on themselves:

"Dad - send $ 4 Spring Break"

There were a ton (yes, a ton) of E.S.P.N. signs that said something with Syracuse on the S, and Nova on the N.  We’ll spare you from 99.9% of them because they all basically said the same thing:

"E.S.P.N. - Eat Syracuse Pulp Nova"

"E.S.P.N. - Crowd, Help Syracuse Punish Nova!"

"E.S.P.N. - Everyone in Syracuse Pitties Nova"

This sign/costume combo is just AMAZING.  Boeheim was so GQ in the 80’s:

"I'm with Jim"

The majority of you will have no clue what this next sign means, so head over to Urban Dictionary to figure it out.  Is it just me, or does Andy Rautins look like he came straight out of the “My New Haircut” videos?

"Not now chief, I'm in the 2-3 zone!"

Every week on GameDay there are the huge cardboard head signs in the crowd, and this week was no different.  You had all the GameDay guys, Jim Brown, Carmelo Anthony, Rautins, and this guy?  Who the hell is this guy?

For some reason I don’t think Carmelo has any eligibility left…maybe if the Cuse goes out and hires Calipari they could make it work though (low blow I know, sue me):

"Carmelo: One more year!"

There always has to be someone to embarrass themselves on national TV:

Our favorite signs every week are the ones that include the GameDay crew.  This young lady is proposing to Bobby Knight…why do I get the feeling that he would be grumpy and angry if he read the sign in person (not great quality but had to post it anyway)?:

"Bobby Knight, will you marry me"

My personal favorite for the best sign of the day:

"Digger: Dance with our cheerleaders"

This guy was mad Digger went with yellow instead of orange, and we don’t blame him!:

"Digger, where's your orange tie??!!"

Speaking of Digger’s accessory selection, here he is in all his glory.  Leave a comment below and caption this picture:

"Hey buddy, don't worry about what color my tie is!"

Another week, another Erin Andrews sighting, and whatdya know…she tried to kiss me again for the third time this year!

Be sure to vote in the poll below for your favorite sign.  At the end of the season we will have a tournament of all the best signs.  If you haven’t voted for last week you can do so HERE.  As of right now “Rece – Wear my Snuggie” is in the lead.

Next week College GameDay will be at Duke to watch the Blue Devils take on North Carolina, and we will be back with all the signs.  I believe this is the last broadcast of the year…if you’re going to be there let us know!

Best ESPN College GameDay Signs from Washington (2/20/10)

February 21, 2010

Let me first say that I was a bit disappointed in the Washington crowd for College GameDay yesterday.  We were probably a bit spoiled after Kentucky’s record performance last week, but I would still expect more people to show up.  The attendance figure was around 1,500, easily the smallest crowd of the year.  To be fair, GameDay started at 8am PT, and I’m sure many students were too hungover tired to get out of bed.  I still have to give credit to those fans that did come, because without them, we wouldn’t have this post!  If you were at GameDay and you have pictures of signs, let us know so we can post them!

Digger went with a pink tie/highlighter combination this week for all of you fashion buffs. The Washington student who shot the half-court shot for a scholarship had good aim but fell a couple feet short.  That makes fourteen straight shows with a miss, and Duke and North Carolina remain the only schools to ever have someone make the shot.  On to the signs!

First up is our favorite sign of the week.  Bobby Knight’s chair-throwing legacy will live on forever:

"Throw it here Bobby"

Speaking of Coach Knight, he apparently has a couple Washington cheerleaders in his fan club…I bet Digger is jealous:

More members of the Bobby Knight fan club:

"Bob Knight is a saint"

Bobby Knight wasn’t the only person at ESPN getting attention.  Washington students pleaded with Rece to wear a Washington snuggie, which he agreed to:

"Rece - wear my Snuggie"

Rece Davis in a Washington snuggie

Washington’s women like their men with a few extra pounds:

"We like our men Husky"

These fans are well aware of the apparent east-cost bias that ESPN has, and I don’t think they are too happy about it.  It looks like they aren’t happy about losing their NBA team either:

"We exist too! have you seen our Sonics?"

Washington fans arranged signs to spell Niiikolaa for UCLA’s Nikola Dragovic, which I think is a play on the Ricola commercial:

"Niiikolaa"

Speaking of Dragovic, it looks as if everyone in the student section had a picture of him in a hot tub or pool.  He was a good sport about it and even autographed one of the pictures.

Digger showing his feminine side with the pink combo:

We had another Erin Andrews sighting, and oddly enough, she tried to kiss me again like she did at Kansas State:

Last but not least, our favorite part of yesterday’s broadcast (although getting a kiss from Erin Andrews comes in a close second).  Watch the fan on the left as he mimics punching Digger Phelps in the background:

Be sure to vote in the poll below for your favorite sign.  At the end of the season we will have a tournament of all the best signs.  If you haven’t voted for last week you can do so HERE.  As of right now “In Kentucky we love our Cousins. In Tennessee they marry them!” has a commanding lead.

Next week College GameDay will be in Syracuse to watch the Orange take on Villanova, and we will be back with all the signs.  Will Syracuse break Kentucky’s attendance record?  If you’re going to be there let us know!

Best ESPN College GameDay Signs from Kentucky (2/13/10)

February 14, 2010

ESPN College GameDay was live from Lexington, Kentucky yesterday at Rupp Arena, the site of the showdown between #2 Kentucky and #12 Tennessee.  I have been saying for the last few weeks that I expected this crowd to be the biggest ever for a GameDay because of how fast the tickets sold out.  I was correct, as 22,144 fans showed up to show the world who the best college basketball town in America is.  The crowd nearly tripled the previous record that was set a few weeks back by Kansas State with 8,159.  I also heard that the crowd broke the record of the football version of GameDay but I can’t confirm that.  The only downside to the huge crowd is that the signs were so spread out that it was tough to get a glimpse of all of them.  If you were at GameDay and you have pictures of signs, let us know so we can post them!

Digger went with a green tie/highlighter combination this week.  I’m kind of surprised he didn’t play to the crowd like he usually does by going with blue.  Come to think of it, I don’t think they make highlighters in UK blue…maybe he should get with Sharpie on that one.  The Kentucky student who shot the half-court shot for a scholarship missed pretty badly, but it wasn’t the worst shot we’ve seen all year.  That makes thirteen straight shows with a miss, and Duke and North Carolina remain the only schools to ever have someone make the shot.  On to the signs!

First things first, I could post pictures of what seemed like a few hundred “We love our Cousins” sign, but I will spare you and just go with a couple (if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all).  I’m going to withhold my Kentucky jokes here and let you do it in the comment section.  DeMarcus Cousins is certainly one of the most dominate players in basketball this year (even if he does play a little dirty), and the fans in Lexington love him:

"We love our Cousins in Kentucky"

"Here in Kentucky we love our Cousins"

As silly as Kentucky fans look holding these signs, at least they aren’t from Tennessee:

"In Kentucky we love our Cousins. In Tennessee they marry them!"

Well played.  On to some more Tennessee humor:

"Tennessee can Volunteer to lose"

There were quite a few plays on the “Orange you glad you…” joke.  One sign will get the job done here:

"Orange you glad you aint a Vol"

Tennessee’s football and basketball teams have both had an unfortunate series of mishaps with the law this year.  Think Kentucky fans won’t be making fun of that?  Yeah right…

"Kentucky Pros vs. Tennessee Cons"

Just in case you didn’t get the message the first time:

"Pros vs. Cons"

Probably my favorite con-related humor of the day:

"7 NCAA Championships. 2,000 wins. 43 SEC Titles. What has UT done lately? 4 mugshots."

I was disappointed in the lack of signs making fun of Digger and the crew, however, one reader did send in a picture aimed towards Bobby Knight.  Needless to say, Knight isn’t too fond of Calipari so it wasn’t a surprise he didn’t make the trip.

"UK gives Bobby Knight-mares"

Speaking of Calipari…

"E.S.P.N. - Every day is a Caliparty in Kentucky"

DeMarcus Cousins vs. Wayne Chism battled it out for best fashion accessory:

"Battle of the Bands"

Attention all Kentucky fans…I have to find out who this guy is because it is imperative I find out what the rest of this guy’s hilarious sign says.  If you know this guy, or you know what his sign said, please contact me!

:

"UK/UT Tix: $50. Hotel room: $80. Breaking up with my girl V-day weekend to ???: PRICELESS!"

Obviously there were plenty of John Wall signs:

"John Wall lives vicariously through himself"

Is it just me or is this some form of blasphemy?

"W.W.J.W.D." (What Would John Wall Do?)

In the words of the great Lee Corso, not so fast my friends:

"11 is the new 23"

Last but not least, Erin Andrews was in the building, and this Kentucky fan wants her as his valentine (don’t we all?):

"Be mine Erin Andrews"

Speaking of Erin, here she is from yesterday’s broadcast:

We also had Erin’s arch-rival (not really, but it sounds cool) and That Fan favorite, Jenn Brown:

Jenn Brown doing the John Wall dance...

This is the third time I’ve seen Gumby at a College GameDay this year…he must be a big basketball fan:

Digger sporting the green tie/highlighter combo…maybe he did it for Gumby?

Speaking of Digger, he sure likes to bust a move with the cheerleaders every week:

While we are still on the topic of Digger, one angry fan in the crowd isn’t too fond of him (maybe the cheerleader in the video above is his girlfriend?).  During Rece Davis’ interview with John Calipari, a UK fan can be heard yelling “Digger, YOU SUCK!”

The loudest the crowd got yesterday may have been when Rick Pitino was mentioned:

If you were one of the fans who was boo’ing Pitino (or wish you were there so that you could have), click HERE and HERE because these shirts might interest you:

Lastly, I’ve been waiting to spot fans giving obscene gestures in front of the camera all year, and to my disappointment I haven’t found any…until these guys.  These guys get WAY too excited about giving the “forearm jerk” which is the French version of the middle finger:

This UK fan must have seen those guys and wanted to top them:

Be sure to vote in the poll below for your favorite sign.  At the end of the season we will have a tournament of all the best signs.  If you haven’t voted for last week you can do so HERE.  As of right now “Izzo likes Nickelback” is in the lead.

Next week College GameDay will be in Seattle to watch Washington take on UCLA, and we will be back with all the signs! If you’re going to be there let us know!

Best ESPN College GameDay Signs from Illinois (2/6/10)

February 7, 2010

ESPN College GameDay was live from Champaign, Illinois yesterday at Assembly Hall, the site of the showdown between Illinois and #5 Michigan State.  The crowd was pretty good and looked like a complete sea of orange, but the attendance of 4,143 was nearly doubled by Kansas State from last week with 8,159 in the stands (a College GameDay record).  That record won’t likely last much longer because Kentucky hosts GameDay this week and tickets sold out fast.  I definitely have to give credit to the student section, “The Orange Krush”, for some of their choreographed moves…you can get a glimpse in the video at the end of this article.

Digger went with the yellow tie/highlighter combo for all the fashion nerds out there.  The Illinois student who shot the half-court shot for a scholarship missed pretty bad, but not nearly as bad as the K-State student missed last week.  That makes twelve straight shows with a miss.  On to the signs!

First up, the Michigan State humor:

"Michigan State is a BAD basketball team"

Possibly my favorite sign of the day:

"Izzo likes Nickelback"

Here is a solid group of four different signs.  The first says “Bieber, let’s win one time”.  I have absolutely no clue if there is a hidden meaning behind this that I don’t know about, but I looked it up and Justin Bieber is a Canadian singer, and he released a song named “One Time”.  The next sign is also one of my favorite’s of the day:  “Kalin is a girl’s name” (directed towards MSU senior guard Kalin Lucas).  I’m not sure I really get the third sign: “Get hungry for some Billy Cole-slaw”, other than Bill Cole being a forward on the Illini team.  The last sign is also pretty good: “E.S.P.N. – Every Spartan Picks his Nose”.

This guy woke up at Assembly Hall not knowing where he was or how he got there (also notice Jay Bilas getting some love with the “Jay Bilas is my hero” sign!).  By the look on the guy’s face I don’t think this was a joke…I truly believe he had no clue where he was at.

"Where am I?"

Speaking of Jay Bilas, this guy was impressed with how he looked yesterday.  I could make a variety of jokes right now, but I’ll refrain:

"Lookin' Good Jay"

The color green is apparently Bruce Weber’s kryptonite:

"Bruce Weber + Green = Angry Bruce! You wouldn't like it when he's angry!"

Is anyone out there hiring?  My good friend here seems to have quit his job (also notice the “Muck Fichigan” shirt to the right):

"Quit my job 2 be on ESPN and witness Sparty get smashed"

There was a future great in the crowd:

"Future great"

Speaking of future greats, vote for Jeff Bober for President…in 18 years:

"Jeff Bober for President - 2028"

I know that State Farm sponsors the basketball version of College GameDay, but there were at least ten signs that were State Farm related, and they weren’t even that funny (and they all pretty much said the same thing).  Here is one example of the State Farm signs (if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all):

"Like a good neighbor, we're gonna Krush you"

Another State Farm sign (special thanks to IllinoisLoyalty.com…be sure to check them out for more pictures from GameDay):

"Better call your State Farm agent cuz...you've been KRUSHED!"

There were multiple mentions of Michigan State feeling some “Paign” yesterday:

"E.S.P.N. - Every Spartan is in for Paignful night"

"E.S.P.N. - Expect Some Paign Tonight"

I have no clue why Lil’ Wayne cares about Illinois basketball, but he must be a big fan:

"Lil' Wayne says Make it Rain"

You can’t go to Illinois and not represent for Abraham Lincoln…hmm, Lincoln was actually born in Kentucky, could we see a Lincoln sign two weeks in a row?

Last but not least, Tom Izzo, Hugh Hefner, and Bobby Knight all walk into a bar (thanks again to IllinoisLoyalty.com)…

That’s all for the signs from this week.  Here is Digger’s lovely yellow tie/highlighter combo:

We had a Jenn Brown sighting on College GameDay and she is sporting a new hairstyle…

Here is a great video with a little more of the action from yesterday:

Be sure to vote in the poll below for your favorite sign.  At the end of the season we will have a tournament of all the best signs.  If you haven’t voted for last week you can do so HERE.  As of right now “Sherron – put some pants on, we find it a little weird we have to ask twice and “KU – disappointing the state of Kansas since 1865 are in the lead.

Next week College GameDay will be in Lexington, Kentucky for Kentucky vs. Tennessee, and we will be back with all the signs!  If you’re going to be there let us know!

Best ESPN College GameDay Signs from Kansas State (1/30/10)

January 31, 2010

ESPN College GameDay was live from Manhattan, Kansas yesterday at the Bramlage Coliseum, AKA “The Octagon of Doom”.  Kansas State was taking on their bitter rival, Kansas, in a showdown of two top-15 teams.  My first thought as soon as the opening shot of the crowd appeared:  Wow.  My second thought:  Wow.  I’ve been watching College GameDay for a long time and I’ve  noticed that you can always tell what kind of show it is going to be based on that opening shot, and I knew this one was going to be a great one.  It turns out that Kansas State broke the attendance record for College GameDay, which surprisingly was set by Clemson last week.  All I have to say on this point is enjoy it while it lasts, because Kentucky hosts in two weeks and tickets sold out fast.

Digger went with the purple tie/highlighter combo for all you who are so desperately curious about that.  Also, the Kansas State student who shot the half-court shot for a scholarship missed…badly.  That makes eleven straight shows with a miss.  On to the signs!

One of the biggest trends for signs was making fun of Kansas center Cole Aldrich and his missing tooth.  It seems like the fans kept confusing Cole for other people:

"TWINS" (Aldrich and Stu from The Hangover)

Another guy thinks Aldrich looks more like Sloth from the Goonies:

"Resemblance?"

Another vote for Stu from The Hangover:

"Am I Missing A Tooth?"

Everyone was excited to see the battle of Jacob Pullen’s beard vs. Bill Self’s alleged toupee:

"Beard vs. Toupee"

Luis Colon supports eating several servings of fiber every day:

"Can't block our Colon"

Of course the fans came with plenty of Kansas humor:

"KU - disappointing the state of Kansas since 1865"

"KU = Epic Fail"

In case you forgot, Kansas’ star player Sherron Collins was charged with assaulting a woman in an elevator after pulling his pants down and “rubbing against her”.  Maybe he didn’t get the message:

"Sherron - put some pants on, we find it a little weird we have to ask twice"

That Fan definitely has to support the troops that were present:

"I'm going to destroy them"

Speaking of Kansas State’s crazy coach, Frank Martin:

"Beware of the stare"

GameDay is not complete without a Digger Phelps sign or two:

"Digger me timbers!" (Arrrr matey!)

Digger Phelps was a member of the TKE fraternity, and it sounds like he can still party with the best of ‘em (wait, is that Gumby?):

"Digger, come party at TKE"

They believe in evolution at Kansas State:

"Every man a Wildcat"

You know Kansas State fans mean business when Chuck Norris won’t go there:

"Even Chuck Norris is afraid of the Octagon of Doom"

There was a battle for Facebook friends by a couple guys in the crowd.  I’m not sure who won, but Phil Wahl told me he got over 300 friend requests and over 100 messages in his inbox…waiting to hear back from Jordan so we can settle this once and for all!

"E.S.P.N. - Every person should Facebook Phil Wahl now"

"Jordan Ast: Facebook me"

Wait, is it just me or does this K-State cheerleader look a little too happy to be holding a Kansas sign?

That’s all we’ve got for signs this week…here is Digger and his purple tie/highlighter:

We had a special guest appearance by Gumby a few pictures above…look who else decided to show up…the purple Power Ranger:

Colonel Sanders and one of his many chickens came all the way from Kentucky for the game:

And last but not least, what would a GameDay recap be link without the magnificent Erin Andrews?  The only problem is she was trying to kiss me while I was taking her picture…good problem to have I guess!

Be sure to vote in the poll below for your favorite sign.  At the end of the season we will have a tournament of all the best signs.  If you haven’t voted for last week you can do so HERE.  As of right now “Coach K is an evil leprechaun” and “Kyle Singler kisses his grandmother goodnight every night” are in the lead.

Next week College GameDay will be in Champagne, Illinois for Illinois vs. Michigan State, and we will be back with all the signs!  If you’re going to be there let us know!

Best ESPN College GameDay Signs from Clemson (1/23/10)

January 24, 2010

Editor’s note: You can now vote for your favorite sign shown below.  Click HERE to vote!

ESPN College GameDay was live from Littlejohn Coliseum yesterday, the site of the Clemson vs. Duke game.  Clemson had a great crowd and had a better sign selection than UCONN did last week in my opinion.  I was a little disappointed there weren’t more signs aimed at the GameDay crew, but they made up for it elsewhere.  Digger went with the orange tie/highlighter combo for all you fashion buffs out there.  Also, Clemson running back C.J. Spiller made a guest appearance to shoot the traditional half-court shot for a scholarship, but just missed.  That makes ten straight misses if you’re counting at home.  On to the signs!

Let’s get started with some Coach K humor:

"Coach K is an evil Leprechaun"

"Coach K is an evil Leprechaun"

The creator of this sign wins the award for “most time spent creating your sign” from this week:

"Even Coach K wears Trevor Booker tighty whities!!"

This “pants on the ground” sensation from American Idol is sweeping the nation.  Obviously Coach K didn’t get the memo:

"E.S.P.N. - Coach K wears his pants on the ground!"

Now, I’m not 100% positive, but this sign looks like someone took Coach K’s head and placed it on Hitler’s body.  Never mind, I’m positive:

That’s all for Coach K humor, but these Clemson students came with plenty more Duke humor:

"E.S.P.N. - Tigers upset Puke on national TV"

For all you math majors out there (also notice the Miley Cyrus sighting on the left):

"Math 101: Duke = Puke"

It wouldn’t be a GameDay without Dukee/Dookie humor:

"Flush the Dukees down the John"

"I smell DUKEeee in Littlejohn"

I couldn’t get a clear shot of this one, but I had to post it anyway:

"Kyle Singler kisses his grandmother goodnight every night"

As soon as I found out the GameDay would be at Clemson, I figured I would see one or two signs referencing Demontez Stitt’s last name.  I was wrong, there looked like there were hundreds!  Here is a taste:

"Holy Stitt"

"Stitt happens"

"Our Stitt don't stink"

This last one also has a view of the fans painted up spelling GAMEDAY!…great job, that’s what That Fan likes to see!

"Take a Stitt on Duke"

Have you ever seen the movie ‘300′?  If so, hopefully you remember the best scene in the entire film with the line “THIS IS SPARTA!”.  Clemson fans are using the line as their own…hmmm, who would win in a fight between Clemson and Sparta?

"This Is Clemson!"

Clemson forward Trevor Booker doesn’t care if Hammer pants are out of style…he’s bringing them back:

"Stop. It's Booker time!"

This fan obviously cares less about Trevor Booker’s wardrobe…let us help you out here.  Trevor:  this girl WANTS YOU!

"Call me Trevor Booker, I can make Littlejohn rock!"

That Fan prefers ladies that like ESPN…who watches the Oxygen channel anyway?  This is a song reference in case you’re clueless on this one…

"She's watchin' that Oxygen, I'm watchin' ESPN"

Last but not least, this sign pretty much sums it up for all of us:

"Erin, I'll be Mr. Andrews"

What good is mentioning an Erin Andrews sign without a shot of Ms. Andrews herself?  Here’s a glimpse of Erin from Clemson yesterday:

Hey check it out, Alan from The Hangover showed up with the baby they found in Vegas:

The moment you’ve all been waiting for…Digger’s orange combo:

Speaking of Digger, you have to check out this video of him dancing with a Clemson cheerleader yesterday on the court.  Is it bad that Digger Phelps is a better dancer than I am?

That’s all for this week.  Be sure to check back in the next couple days for the poll allowing you to vote for your favorite sign.  At the end of the season we will have a tournament of all the best signs.  If you haven’t voted for last week you can do so HERE.  As of right now “It’s okay Notre Dame, you always have football.  Oh wait!” is in the lead.  Next week College GameDay will be at Kansas State for the Kansas State/Kansas game and we will be back with all the signs!  If you’re going to be there let us know!

Best ESPN College GameDay Signs from UCONN (1/16/10)

January 17, 2010

Editor’s note: You can now vote for your favorite sign shown below.  Click HERE to vote!

Yesterday was the first episode of ESPN College GameDay’s college basketball coverage. The show was live from Stoors, Connecticut, the site of the UCONN vs. Notre Dame women’s basketball showdown. This was the first time that GameDay has been at the site of a women’s game, and forgive us for saying this, hopefully the last. I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of women’s basketball, but if you are a fan of any sport then That Fan is a fan of you.

There are also a few different trends that we will cover with the basketball version. In football you have Corso’s headgear, but in basketball you’ve got Digger’s stunning silly tie/highlighter color combo, and the half-court shot for a scholarship (just an FYI, the half-court shot was missed, which makes nine episodes in a row without a winner).

There weren’t that many signs on the episode for a few reasons. First, the show was only an hour long, compared to two hours with the football version. Second, you are inside an arena rather than in a large area outside. And oh yeah, it was at a women’s game, which isn’t necessarily the hottest ticket in town. On to the signs!

First up, this student thinks Digger should have gone with the blue tie/highlighter combo instead of the green:

"Digger: Blue is greater than Green"

This student on the other hand is all about the green, and even started the Digger fan club (notice the very large green highlighter sign):

"Digger fan club"

Enough about Digger, let’s get some shots in on Jay Bilas:

"Jay Bilas can't play Scattergories"

I know Dick Vitale is as old as God, but I’m not sure he’s on his level just yet:

"Dickie V = GOD"

If you’re playing Notre Dame in any sport, you can’t help but give them a hard time about their football program:

"It's OK Notre Dame, you always have football. Oh wait!"

This guy was just begging to be on TV with a silly sign like this…or maybe he was being serious?

"This guy loves math!"

Maya Moore doesn’t seem to like Pat Summit very much (thanks to the UCONN blog for letting me know who this was!):

I don't know how to caption this other than saying "I hate Pat Summit"

Hey pal, sorry if your mom sees this, but that money is most definitely not for “books”:

"Mom, please send money for 'books'"

I believe tent city is where all the students camp out in tents the night before trying to get tickets to a big game.  Ryan, is this something anyone can vote for, or do you have to be a UCONN student?  Let us know and we’ll get our visitors to vote for you.

"Vote Ryan Grace, Mayor of Tent City. Storrs, CT 2010"

You also had your usual signs in the crowd of various players’ faces blown up very large.  One in particular caught That Fan’s eye:

Hmm, not bad, must be a cheerleader, right?  Wrong, it’s a 6-foot forward for the UCONN women’s basketball team (she’s also standing right in the middle of that picture).  Want another glimpse?

That Fan couldn’t help but do some research into who this supermodel of an athlete is.  Turns out it is Meghan Gardler, a senior on the team.  That Fan routinely likes to give presents to our readers in the form of Erin Andrews and Jenn Brown, but we may have our new favorite female athlete.  Okay, we DO have our new favorite female athlete.  Can That Fan turn Meghan into a household name?  Probably not, but we sure will try!

Be sure to check back in the next couple days for the poll allowing you to vote for your favorite sign from this week.  Next week College GameDay will be at Clemson for the Duke/Clemson game.  We will be back with all the signs!  And here is one more shot of Meghan to hold you over until we do a larger write-up on her later this week…

Vote for the Best College GameDay Sign from 12/5

December 7, 2009

Fellow fans, below you will find a poll that will allow you to vote for your favorite sign from this past weekend’s version of ESPN GameDay that was filmed at the SEC Championship game.  If you need to review the pictures again you can do so in this post.  If I left a sign off the poll that you feel strongly about, leave a comment below and I can add it to the poll.

I’m keeping a running track of the most popular signs throughout the season, and I’ll have a final vote at the end of the year for the best sign of the year.  If you didn’t vote for your favorite sign from the Florida GameDay, click HERE.  As of now it looks like “Tim Tebow can outdrive Tiger Woods” and “Don’t worry Bobby, it’s not Alzheimers…I can’t remember the last time you beat us either.  GO GATORS!!” are moving on to the sign playoffs so far.  Rock the vote!
